WebQuest

WebQuest in secondary education focus on understanding a concept by the use of internet. Student might have meet the objective when they find the information related and able to present what they have learn. WebQuest can provide the teacher with the opportunity to integrate internet technology into the curriculum. The activity is design in such a  way that discourage student from simply surfing  the web in an open –ended unstructured manner. This activity is a useful tool for encouraging the transferable skill and helping student to narrow the gap between school and real world experience. Wide area is covered in WebQuest activity. Student can acquire information, debating, participate in related discussion, engage in role play simulation and solve problem.

            Why we use WebQuest? This is because we as a teacher have to develop among student the critical thinking, cooperative learning and technology integration. As educator we will get excited to use a new idea for helping student to learn and grow. But still there are another problem to consider for example curriculum requirement and logistic demand. Web quest can enhance student motivation. When they are more motivated they will put in more effort and their mind are ready to make connection. Teacher have to choose topic that are relevance to student. Web quest also can develop thinking skill. It is because student have to tackle question that require higher level thinking skill. Student need many example with lots of information and the opinion regarding  the topic so that they will construct their own understanding
